Zoe

What is Zoe Empowers?

Zoe Empowers is a global mission program which empowers children to overcome poverty, move beyond charity, and experience meaningful lives. The children participate in a three-year program where they receive training in life skills, business education, and access to micro-grants to develop their own businesses. This model benefits the children, their siblings, and their community with education, spiritual guidance, and a special focus on restoring their personal dignity.

Our Current Zoe Group

In 2022, we began another three-year partnership with the Imbereheza "Bright Future" Kigembe Empowerment Group in Rwanda. This new cohort has 24 households with 88 children, and so far, they have made significant progress! Before Zoe, the families struggled to get enough food, and the children often went hungry. None of the families had vegetable gardens or owned livestock, and the few who tried to grow crops were not successful due to lack of knowledge and the right supplies. Now, most of the families can eat at least one satisfying and nutritionally balanced meal every day and 84% are considered food secure. All of the households are now planting crops and raising livestock. In addition, 17 of the households now have modern beds so they no longer have to sleep on the floor. Praise God! Previous Zoe Group

From 2019-2021, Suntree UMC supported a group of 30 households with 99 children in the Tuzamarene "Let's Move Together" Rubaya Empowerment Group in Rwanda. We supported the group financially and prayerfully. Some of the funds were used to purchase seeds and fertilizer, which the children used to grow maize and potatoes. Today, farming has become a significant source of income for the children. The program empowered them to become less hungry, more financially secure, and more faithful. By the end of the program, all of the families had experienced and came to believe in God's love for them, and many of them attend church services and pray with each other.
