| July 13, 2022
The Cuba Committee and the pastors and congregations of El Redentor, Ojo de Agua and other churches we support in Cuba wish to express our gratitude for the recent gift of...
More than the warm, inviting Caribbean Sea…
More than the mouthwatering taste of freshly baked island bread…
God’s living water and the fire of His Holy Spirit calls to us from Cuba!
Suntree UMC has a covenant with two Methodist Churches in Cuba. Their members have become “our” family, and we are “theirs.”

Cuba Mission Dinner and Fundraiser
Friday, September 27 | 5:30pm
Support the Cuban Church; Their Faith is on Fire!
Join us in support of our brothers and sisters in Cuba on Friday, September 27, 2024! Doors open at 5:30pm, with dinner served at 6pm, concluding around 8pm. Savor a delicious meal of mojo pork, rice, beans, plantains, and dessert. Tickets are priced at $25 each. At this event we will hear stories of transformation happening in churches across Cuba. Our keynote speaker will be Aldo Gonzalez. A little about Aldo: In 1995, after successfully establishing a relationship with the Cuban Government, the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church asked Aldo to serve as a bridge between the Cuban Methodist Church and the U.S. Methodist Church by coordinating teams of volunteers to help the growing church in Cuba.
In the past 30 years, he has recruited and trained over a thousand UMVIM (United Methodist Volunteers in Mission) teams, which have made a significant impact in Cuba. They have assisted in building and refurbishing hundreds of Methodist churches, including the notable projects of Camp Canaan and the Methodist Seminary in Havana.
Aldo continues to coordinate the U.S. Methodist Church's national effort in Cuba. Most recently, he has initiated a crucial collaborative project with the Florida United Methodist Conference and MUIP (Methodists United in Prayer). This project aims to continue refurbishing four specific projects (Camp Canaan, The Methodist Home for Adults, the Seminary in Havana, and the Cathedral in Holguin).
During the dinner we will also be collecting over-the-counter medications such as: pain relievers, vitamins, mosquito repellent, and Imodium.
Childcare is available; please provide your child's name, age, and any allergies when you make a reservation!

How You Can Help Churches in Cuba:
Pray for the people of Cuba and our sister churches! Pray for their health, their daily struggles, that they will have enough food to feed their families today, and for the spiritual and political leaders in both our countries.
Provide Supplies: Our teams take suitcases of over-the-counter (OTC) medications and many other needed items on the annual trips to Cuba (usually in January). You can bring your donated items to a committee member or the church office. Please make sure it is marked ‘Cuba Missions’. Please note that we cannot accept prescription medications and that OTC medications cannot expire before the next January, since expired medications cannot be brought into Cuba.
Support financially: Our Cuba Mission Dinner and Fundraiser is the best chance to learn more about the work of churches in Cuba and to support their missions. We also accept and appreciate donations throughout the year. If you would like to donate cash or write a check, you mail it to, or drop it off, at the church office, or put it into the offering on Sundays. Please make sure your donation is marked ‘Cuba Missions’. Thank you for your continued support and please know that travelers to Cuba pay for their own travel, lodging and meals, so that every penny donated goes directly to support our Cuba Missions.
Make a gift towards Cuba MissionsMembership: Prospective members are always welcome to attend monthly Cuba Mission meetings on the second Thursday of each month at 7pm in Room 108.
